Wagyu

True Heritage

“Wagyu” refers to all Japanese beef cattle, as 'Wa' means Japanese and 'gyu' means cow. The breeding of Wagyu beef in Japan is closely controlled and descendant lineage testing is requisite. Only superior proven genetics are conserved for breeding. In the late 1990’s, the Government in Japan prohibited any exports of Wagyu genetics and recognized Wagyu as a national living treasure. Notable published research reveals the entire Wagyu beef population outside of Japan is derived from fewer than 200 live exports to the USA, ending in 1997. The best cattle breeding stock produces the best beef. Our Fullblood Akaushi bull and cow lineage can be DNA traced directly back to the original Wagyu bulls and cows imported to America from Japan, in the 1990’s.

When we pair our Fullblood Akaushi bulls with select True Heritage breed cows, the resulting calves, over generations of breeding and testing, are genetically aligned to yield 3 Boots Ranch True Heritage Wagyu™. This beef is USDA graded “Prime”, at a percentage of total animal yield, far surpassing common feedlot cattle meat grading averages. Prime graded beef represents just a small percentage of all beef, which is why it’s so valued and sought-after.

Additionally, we provide our cattle with a weekly rotating pasture sequence and free-grazing environment. Due to our coveted valley ranch setting, our pasture grasses grow purposefully in very rich and fertile soil. Our irrigation water is gravity fed to all our pastures and flows steadily during grazing season. In winter months, our cattle eat heartily from an Animal Nutritionist’s designed diet of select local hay varieties, and natural grain blends to maintain a highly nutritious, balanced and healthy diet. We grind our specialized feed blends freshly, every day at 3 Boots Ranch.
